MOS Description and Mission
MOS 0241, Imagery Analysis Specialist is a primary MOS. Imagery Analysis Specialists process and analyze imagery gathered by various sensor platforms to derive intelligence. They use photogrammetric skills to assist the commander with reconnaissance mission planning, surveillance and accurate target acquisition. By using these skills to analyze photos and videos collected by Marines and other forces, they are able to provide actionable intelligence information to the commander and his forces.
Intelligence derived by the imagery analysis specialist is used to update military intelligence databases at the national, theater, and service levels. Imagery analysis products include, but are not limited to:
Battle Damage Assessment (BDA)
Order of Battle (OOB) identification
Lines of Communication (LOC) surveys
Helicopter Landing Zone (HLZ) studies
Coastal landing beach studies
Expeditionary airfield studies
Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) studies.
